I was updating a VM with WinXP today and it downloaded the “Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 Service Pack 1 and .NET Framework 3.5 Family Update (KB951847)”, which weight in at a whopping 238MB! An update! WTF? As a comparison: the Java 6 JRE is around 15MB.
One response to “And you thought the JRE was big”
Funny you should post this.
I was updating the images we use for our systems at work this week and noticed that the download and install seemed to take a loooong time to complete!
It amazed me and didn’t seem to matter how old/new the systems were that I was doing the imaging on.
It’s a whopper! I’ll have to go back and look up the related KB on it to see just what all is going on and why it seems to be a full-body organ transplant rather than a Lasic eye correction procedure.
I feel the pain!
